Whether you’re a regular participant, or looking to join your first ever Run, you’ve come to the right place. Round the Vines is an engaging and fun event, geared towards people of all ages and from all walks of life.

ABOUT THE EVENT

Where do the events start and finish?

All the events start and finish at Memorial Square, in the centre of town.

What’s on offer after the event and what time should I aim to finish by?

Live entertainment kicks off from 11.30am at Martinborough Square where there will be food, wine and non-alcoholic drinks available to buy. Prize-giving starts at 1pm and ends about 1.30pm.  You will need to be present to be eligible for the amazing spot prizes and costume awards.

Is Round the Vines suitable for all ages?

Yes and we love seeing the variety of friends, families and people who turn up every year to do it!

What are the course grounds like and are they pram, buggie or wheelchair friendly?

The course does have paddock-like sections and gravel roads through the vineyards but can be done if you have an off-road pram, buggie or wheelchair.

Is there a map and is the course flat?

Yes and yes - just click here for the map

Are there toilets and hydration stations on the course?

There sure are – Martinborough Square has both toilets and port-a-loos and there are more port-a-loos near each of the five hydration stations dotted around the course.

Are there first aid stations?

First aid kits and band-aids will be available at all hydration stations and at the Memorial Square.

What should I bring?

We like to think there will a summer feel in the air at this time of the year, but check the weather before you come. Bring sun-screen, hats and layers, along with water. The day may range from 15 - 25 degrees.  Don’t forget some cash and eftpos card for food, drinks & raffles after the event.

Where can I park on the day?

There is lots of parking available on the many side streets near Martinborough Square and there is no time restriction or parking charges. Just a note that there is no parking at the Square itself, as this area will be closed off to traffic from 8am for the event.

Can I leave my bags at the Square on race day?

While we hope to have them in the future, we currently don’t have bag drop facilities – so please leave your bags and any valuables in a safe, locked location.

Are there any event safety instructions and rules?

Yes – but not too many! The key one is to follow the marshals around the course and do not run along the road on SH53 (after Palliser). Other ones include no dogs or bikes and that all entrants must attend the event briefing that takes place in the Square 15 minutes before each race start time.

REGISTRATION

What will I receive to confirm my registration?

An e-ticket confirmation will be automatically sent to the email address given with the booking. If for any reason you don’t receive this within 24 hours of booking, please email us at rtv@martinborough.school.nz

When is the last day I can register?

You can register anytime before the event, including on the day, as long as the event limit of 1,500 entries and registrations will close when this is reached.

So, can I enter on the day?

Yes, if the event hasn’t sold out, individuals can register on the day but we won’t be able to register a team, sorry! The registration desk will open at 7:30am in Martinborough Square, in the centre of town, and a late entry fee will apply.

Where do I get my number if I’ve registered online?

If you’ve entered online, you can collect your race number from the Martinborough School Hall at 14 Dublin Street (or use the Roberts St entrance) on Friday 1st November between 3.30 - 6.30pm or from 7:30am at Martinborough Square, in the centre of town. Late registration fees apply.

Where do we register if we’re wearing fancy dress?

Registrations for the fancy dress competition can be done at the Martinborough School Hall the afternoon before the event or at Martinborough Square on the morning before your race starts.

Can my friend pick up my registration pack?

Yes – providing they have your registration details ie name, phone number, email address, number of entrants.

Can I get a refund?

All entry fees are treated as donations to Martinborough School - so entry fees are non-refundable. The event will go ahead rain or shine.

AFTER THE EVENT | PRIZE-GIVING

Are there prizes for the different events?

The first three women and men in each event will be given their placings, and prizes will be given to the top three individuals who finish in each event, including the under 14 year olds 10km run.

Are there prizes for fancy dress?

There are also two fancy dress categories: Group of 3+ and Individual or Couple. A random prize draw will be made at the prize-giving after the races for each category  along with an Outstanding Effort prize for each category as well.

Where and when is the prize-giving?

Prize-giving kicks off at 1pm in Martinborough Square. They’ll be live music, super yum food and drink and amazing raffle and spot prizes to go along with the prizes given out for the different events.

This year, everyone’s favourite – the end-of-day Wharekauhau Luxury Lodge spot prize will be up for grabs again too! So make sure to stay, because if your name is called out and you are not there we will draw another winner out of the barrel.
